Keeping it casual
A bizarre moment in last night’s games as Maik Kuivenhoven was forced to play in jeans and trainers.
The 36-year-old stepped in as a late replacement for Gerwyn Price, who pulled out of the tournament through injury.
Kuivenhoven raced across Europe to face Raymond Van Barneveld – but his airline sent his bag to Frankfurt, not Prague.
He ended up wearing a PDC-branded polo, jeans, and white trainers on the Oche, eventually falling to a brave 6-4 loss.
Double Decker
Last week’s king of the World Grand Prix, Mike de Decker, is still in the running at the Czech Darts Open too.
De Decker is up against Martin Schindler in the final quarter-final tie this afternoon from 3.30pm BST.
Littler’s new record
Luke Littler smashed in a tournament record average on his Czech Darts Open debut.
The teen sensation demolished stablemate pal Nathan Aspinall 6-1 in his opening clash in Prague last night
Littler delivered a huge 110.43 average and Aspinall threw his darts away onto the stage floor after the thrashing.
He said: “Obviously there was loads of talks about changing to my new darts.
“So I’ve come here this weekend and made a decision to go back to what I know best and they went well tonight.
“I’m happy I know what I can throw with these darts. That’s why I’m not playing with the gold ones and it just goes to show tonight why I shouldn’t have changed.”
