No word from McGregor

Conor McGregor placed a $500,000 bet on Renan Ferreira to win that fight… I don’t know if he was watching but even someone with as much cash as the Notorious will not be happy with seeing that amount of money go up in flames that quickly.

Just 3 mins 32 secs for McGregor to lose what could buy a pretty decently-sized house in many parts of the UK.

Ngannou’s next moves

Ngannou is now 38 and some might be thinking – having crossed over into boxing and returned to win the PFL heavyweight belt, that he might consider hanging up the gloves.

The Predator didn’t give a resounding answer one way or the other but certainly seems game for more fights.

He said: “My next move will depend on me, how I feel, how I deal with life.

But I always keep thinking about combat sports and to keep that life.”

Ngannou scores a takedown

Ngannou took the fight to Ferreira with a quick takedown that ultimately lead to the big win.

Lots of pundits had pointed to Ferreira’s takedown defence as a possible weakness – and so it proved.

Ngannou said: “[The takedown] was an option. I’m a mixed martial artist.

“That was definitely an option, not the only alternative, but seeing the opportunity was there… I’m here to take anything that will come my way and here we are.”

‘I knew’

Ngannou was then asked about the fight and if he was worried about losing any skills having been outside of the cage for so long.

But he says his first session back in the gym told him he hadn’t lost a step.

“I wasn’t worried about it, I knew as soon as I went back to the MMA gym it was all still there,” he said.

“It was just about being able to manage my emotion, deal with life. So that’s what I was working on.”

‘It’s been tough’

More from Ngannou on Kobe, who says: “It has been tough. Not only the training camp but the past few days have been full of emotion, I couldn’t do anything without thinking about it.

“I tried to be strong and give everything to keep moving but it’s hard.”

More from Ngannou

“I can’t think about anything but my son Kobe. I only took this fight because of him.

“I hope people remember his name, because without Kobe we wouldn’t be here tonight, I wouldn’t have fought.”
